Winning clusters merge into higher-level sweets

Sugar Merge Up forms wins from four or more matching adjacent symbols. After a cluster pays, some symbols disappear and others advance to the next symbol level. The official description lists nine main levels, followed by Scatter as the tenth. A payout therefore depends on both cluster size and the level being merged. BGaming gives this edition 97.00% RTP, very high volatility and a maximum multiplier of 10,000 times the bet. Its candy theme should not obscure the importance of the progressive grid mechanics.

Bubblegum explosions create a Scatter and advance cells

Cells involved in a winning cluster become marked. Another win in a marked cell creates a two-times multiplier, with later wins doubling its stage up to 128 times. Multipliers participating in one cluster add together. A winning eighth-level cluster creates Bubblegum, whose explosion removes the eight surrounding symbols and increases the affected cell multipliers by one stage before becoming a Scatter. Fresh symbols fill the spaces. This gives merging a second role: the process can create a feature-triggering symbol as well as changing the value and level of ordinary clusters.

Free Spins retain the marked multiplier positions

Marked cells normally last until the spin ends, but their progress continues throughout Free Spins. Three, four, five or six-plus Scatters award twelve, fifteen, twenty or thirty spins; three more in one bonus spin add five. Purchases distinguish standard Free Spins, a two-times starting-cell setup and an entry using three to nine starting bombs.
